Poll Results: What kind of output do you create from InDesign?
Hey folks, it’s time once again to review the results of a poll and launch a new one.
This past month, we asked what kinds of output you create from InDesign.
Whoever said print was dead didn’t ask you folks what you do for a living. The number one response by a large margin was Print PDF, with just over 43% of respondents saying they create print PDFs. That was ten times the number of folks who said they make Reflowable EPUBs. But if you combine all the types of interactive content and compare that to print, the numbers are a lot more balanced: 43% to 39%
PDF also took the second spot, with 20% of respondents saying they make Interactive PDFs.
18% of you said that you export images from InDesign.
And the rest of the choices were all under 10%, ranging from Publish Online at 7% down to XML at a bit over 1%.
Most surprising to me was that Reflowable and Fixed-Layout EPUB got less than 8% of the vote combined. I thought those numbers would be higher.
Here’s a graphic showing the full results:
New poll: Do you still use classic PostScript Type 1 fonts?
Our new poll asks you what kinds of fonts you use. Specifically, we’re interested in knowing if you still rely on PostScript Type 1 fonts, or if you’ve moved on to OpenType, Typekit, or if you’re font agnostic and just use anything that’s in the menu.
Can you tell me please how many people participated?
I thought the epub figures were low and then I realized that those are mostly ebook formats. Those creating documents that aren’t books are more likely to create PDFs and interactive PDFs. Interesting, too, that Publish Online was more popular. Maybe, like its name, it hs becoming a form of publishing.
I would have voted for Print PDF.
