Pixelist Will Turn Your Digital Photos Into Real Oil Paintings
When it comes to crowdfunding creative projects, Kickstarter is not the only game in town. Case in point: Pixelist, a campaign on Indiegogo.com to start a service where you can send your favorite Instagrams or other digital photos to be made into oil paintings by professional artists.

The funding campaign runs through July 25th. Until then you can pledge $90 to get a 12 x 12 painting made from a digital photo. A $100 pledge will get you a 12 x 16 painting. Images with “more than two humans, animals, or related forms are excluded.” Larger or more complex paintings can be had for higher pledges.
Here are some examples showing the original photos and the Pixelist paintings made from them.
