Pdf Solutions and Xeretec Launches Psychic – an Entry-Level Workflow Solution for Digital Printing

Pdf Solutions and Xeretec (The Uk’s number one Xerox premier partner) today announced the launch of Psychic, an entry-level workflow platform delivering seamless integration and a powerful feature set to allow printers to rapidly set up and run their new digital presses at minimal cost. Psychic is based on OS X open file format and offers quick and easy integration into existing management information systems, databases and tracking systems. It delivers a completely automated process from file delivery, through to instant reports on client and jobs print-ready PDFs.
"We spend a lot of time talking to our customers about how we can help them improve the way they do business and become more profitable. As part of this process, we identified that there is demand for a low-cost, entry-level workflow platform, particularly for customers that might be moving more seriously into digital printing but do not want to make a significant investment in workflow software upfront," comments Mark Duffelen, director Xeretec.
Duffelen continues, "Psychic was developed to allow customers to get up and running with minimal fuss at very low cost. The result is a highly flexible and configurable platform that can operate as a standalone workflow or integrate into any existing workflow. The front end File transfer module is completely brandable for any company, and unlike other web based file transfer services, Psychic can be branded to any company’s website. Also the File transfer technology allows for transfer speeds second to none, for example a 25MB tiff file can be transferred in under 3 minutes on a standard 56k dial up. In future it will allow printers to offer their customers the option of an icon on their desktop, into which they simply drag the print job for automated online submission to the printer."
Using FileFlow technology, files can be sent directly into the heart of the Psychic workflow automatically. Psychic can connect to FTP, ISDN and any other web based submission systems to allow seamless workflow integration. Customers also have the option of a front-end web-based file delivery service with job ticketing. This radically increases the ease and efficiency with which jobs can be submitted to the printer. The option for online job tracking, possible via database integration, and ticketing means customers can see the progress of their print jobs via a web interface, improving customer service and ensuring that customers are kept abreast of each job’s progress.
Once print jobs are submitted, Psychic checks the PDFs and native files for any errors or issues. It is capable of identifying and reporting on over 140 known document faults or errors, ensuring that there is minimal disruption and rapid problem resolution while print jobs are being processed. Psychic is also able correct images on the fly, eliminating the need to pull a job from the workflow if there are problems with its image files. Prior to the print-ready PDFs being submitted to the printer for production.
The modular nature of Psychic means that it can be tailored to any user environment. Psychic is powered by Markzware’s FlightCheck workflow and its unique MarkzOne code – allowing it to be completely configurable. An install wizard allows new users to be up and running in within 15 minutes.
Psychic is supplied with a free online secure technical support service as well as telephone and email support provided by software specialists, PDF Solutions. Customers are also able to take advantage of PDF Solution’s free Workflow health check service. Which no other service at present supplies.
