Offscreen Magazine Takes the Digital Stories from Pixels to Paper
The best thing about surfing the web is how you can instantly jump from any content to any content, keeping an incredible variety of dynamic information at your fingertips in a parade of browser tabs. And the worst thing about surfing the web is, well, everything I just mentioned, at least when you’re trying to focus on one subject.
The web is the ultimate distraction, and digital devices can make it impossible for users focus one any one thing, with their constant updates from email, social media, and news. Print content by comparison may seem like an oasis of peace and tranquility.
That is the thinking behind Offscreen, a quarterly print-only magazine, described as “an “old-fashioned” magazine in high-quality print, exploring the life and work of people that create websites and apps.”

Offscreen is the brainchild of Kai Brach, a freelance web designer, who wanted to create something more tangible than his usual work. He wanted to offer readers a distraction-free experience where they could immerse themselves in the stories of the people profiled in the magazine.
The current issue (#2) features six interviews with digital designers, artists, and developers.
