10:15-11:30 | True Digital Workflow with Discreet’s smoke System
This session will walk the nonlinear editor through the ins and outs fundamental to a day in the life of every smoke system artist. Following a smoke system project from start to finish, attendees will see how to conform, edit, enhance, and master multiple versions with incredible speed. In 75 minutes, a step-by-step walkthrough will demonstrate the main concepts and components that make the smoke system a popular product for creative editorial and finishing in SD, HD, or 2K resolutions.
11:45-1:00 | Mastering 3D DVEs in the smoke System
Discreet’s smoke system includes Academy Award®-winning* visual effects tools that enable creative post and broadcast artists to quickly build dynamic 3D effects into their timelines. Attendees will learn how the pros use DVE, smoke’s interactive 3D compositing environment, to manipulate layers, 3D text and objects, lights, cameras, and displacement mapping to produce the effects for which Discreet is famous.
2:00-3:15 | Keying the Impossible Shot
In the real world, blue/green screen quality can range from pristine to uneven, poorly lit and grainy. It’s easy to key a perfect background, but how do you handle the impossible? Attendees will see how the smoke system’s extensive keying toolset provides excellent solutions to produce clean mattes fast. Starting from the Discreet keyer and progressing to the power of the master keyer, tricks of the trade will be revealed, enabling editors to key the impossible shot.
3:30-4:45 | Advanced Techniques in Color Warping
Discover the difference between color correction and Color Warping in this 75-minute session. Attendees will learn how to differentiate their skills with the power and flexibility of the Discreet Color Warper in the smoke system. Topics include how to efficiently neutralize black and white levels, perform primary grading and color matching, and even selectively warp colors all in a single integrated tool. Ideal for experienced editing and effects artists, this workshop will teach attendees why the Color Warper in Discreet’s smoke system is the next best thing to a dedicated color grading application.
5:00-6:15 | The Art and Science of Tracking
Today, almost every effects shot requires tracking, so why is it that no two tracks are ever alike? Attendees will learn how Discreet’s Tracker provides the freedom to handle any job. By performing such tasks as removing camera jitter, tracking shots that move out of view, and addressing other common problems effects professionals encounter on a daily basis, attendees will discover why Discreet’s Tracker is world renowned.
