Monotype Imaging Releases the Monotype Library, OpenType Edition

Monotype Imaging has introduced the OpenType® version of its Monotype® Library on CD and has added 190 new typefaces to the collection, which now numbers 1496, including 574 exclusives. The library can be viewed by visiting www.fonts.com and accessing the Font Packs/Libraries section, where a PDF font catalog of the collection is also available.
“The OpenType edition of the Monotype Library marries the newest, most compelling font technology to one of the world’s most respected collections of typefaces,” said Allan Haley, director of words and letters at Monotype Imaging. “The advantages of OpenType bring exceptional value to this esteemed library, considered for years an industry staple by creative professionals.”
OpenType fonts provide new features to users, including cross-platform compatibility between Macintosh® and Windows® computers, the ability to access alternate characters without switching to a different font, and intelligent character substitution such as replacing multiple characters with ligatures.
The Monotype Library includes classics such as the Plantin®, Bembo® and Centaur® typefaces designed in the first half of the 1900s. The collection also features recent additions including several by current Monotype designers such as Sebastian Lester’s Neo Sans™ and Neo Tech™ families and the Felbridge™ family by Robin Nicholas.
The OpenType edition of the Monotype Library is available from Fonts.com by calling 1-800-424-8973 in the U.S. and Canada or 1-781-970-6020 from all other parts of the world. A 10 CPU library license is $3,499, and a 20 CPU license is $5,499.
