Making Critical Shift From Product-Centric to Customer-Centric Production Is Focus of NAPL Book

Graphic communications company leaders know that succeeding in today’s business environment requires shifting their organizations’ focus from products to customers. In the newly revised edition of Customer-Centered Production, released this month by the National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL), production decision makers now have a comprehensive guide to aligning their department goals with their companies’ overall mission and marketing aims.
Author Gregory S. D’Amico, Ph.D., respected industry expert and associate professor and coordinator of the undergraduate program in Graphic Communications at Kean University, demonstrates why and how every aspect of production management must be tied to meeting and exceeding customer requirements.
"Today’s production manager must intensify their effectiveness, maximize the contributions of their workforce, and enhance their role in realizing the strategic vision of their company by keeping their eyes on the goal, not the gears," says Dr. D’Amico.
Drawing on the insights of many of the most respected management strategy experts, Customer-Centered Production covers every aspect of developing a customer-focused production department, including:

  • Cultivating a highly motivated workforce.
  • Overcoming a resistance to strategic change.
  • Using Total Quality Management to exceed client expectations.
  • Implementing Statistical Process Control.
  • Using dual-sourcing partnerships to improve quality control.
  • Controlling inventory and costs with Just-in-Time production.
  • Leveraging the power of management information systems.
  • Securing future performance by anticipating customer needs.
