Low Cost Superhero Design Elements

Superhero fever is in high gear right now and everyone I know is feeling its effects. Whether you couldn’t get tickets to the Avengers’ last hurrah, are waiting for the crowds to die down, or maybe you’re the type to wait until it appears on your favorite streaming platform, there are other superhero pursuits to, um, pursue. And you can probably even figure out how to convince yourself most of these $25-and-under goodies are work-related.

Fonts

Aye, Cap! Is that what they said to Captain America? He’s not my favorite Avenger, so I don’t really know, but I do know that you can get the American Captain 6 font family for $25. It contains the standard Latin set, as well as Cyrillic, Greek, and Hebrew.

Jumping on the superhero bandwagon (who would do that?) or creating your own superhero comic? You should check out the LHF Comic Caps 2 font ($15). This 2-font OpenType font family contains a regular and a slant style, and sports bonus swashes and speech bubbles

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a font filled with superhero-themed doodles! The aptly named Superhero Doodle Font ($3) is here to save the day with its set of 35 doodle versions of capes, masks, shields, and buildings for your hero to leap over.

Add a comic handwriting flair to any project with the Lisa Angel Comic Font ($12). The all-caps font sports a few ligatures, international glyphs, and looks just as at home on a t-shirt design or fun event invite as it does narrating comic adventures.

Templates

Maybe presenting facts and figures in a fun way is your superpower? Make your clients or your audience feel like superheroes with this PowerPoint template ($24). It boasts 30 slides in widescreen format and 30 in standard and is highly customizable.

Maybe you like your heroes a little on the furry side, we’re not judging. These adorable supercritter templates ($15) can be used for greeting cards, birthday banners, gift cards, and anywhere your little budding superheroes might enjoy them!

Cutest superheroes, assemble! These Superhero Creator Kits ($8 each) are like digital paper dolls with capes and masks. Of course, superheroes can wear whatever they want, so I’m all for mixing and matching the two kits.

Every hero needs…a skyline to stand over, posing with hands on hips. This pack of vector skylines, brushes, digital papers, and speech bubbles ($10) contains the elements to create your own SmallGothamMetroVilleOpolis

Backgrounds

Maybe you’re bringing the superhero and just need a cool background for them to appear on. This 26-pack of “digital papers” in JPEG format ($6) will bring that classic comic look to your next project.

This multi-pack of vector comic backgrounds (via Adobe Stock subscription) is full of fun and colorful comic-inspired designs. You could also use them to adorn your Superhero Prom invitations and posters…because that’s what I imagine superheroes do on their weekends off.

Icons and Graphics

From Li’l Lantern to Superbusinessman (I’m guessing), this huge collection ($14) has a hero for everyone. Featuring 50 superheroes, the set includes both vector and raster versions of a diverse cadre of superpeople.

Standing out in the superhero field today takes a good branding strategy. Project the right image from the costume to the HEROmobile with this pack (via Adobe Stock subscription) of vector superhero badges.

Brushes

Only good at drawing the muscle-bound hero, but the action bubbles not so much? Just use this set of 15 Photoshop brushes (free) to make your comic-themed designs look Bang! Boom! Pow! Terrific!

If you want to bring a vintage flair to your comics and comic-like designs, check out these brushes. This set of 51 halftone pattern brushes for Photoshop ($12) will bring just the right amount of old-timey grunge or inky scratches to your designs.
