Lots of Free InDesign Video Training
You know that Anne-Marie and I each present a bunch of InDesign training videos at Lynda.com, right? But if you don’t subscribe you may not realize that lynda.com offers several free “test” videos on eaach title, just to whet your appetite. But there’s some good stuff in there!
For example, click on the links on these pages. When you get to a title, whatever links are underlined are available for watching!
Obviously, if you find those useful, you may want to consider subscribing. But there is no obligation!
InDesign Videos on YouTube
It has also come to my attention that there’s this new-fangled contraption called YouTube, on which there are a few (or, more accurately, a few bazillion) training videos. Here’s one from our friend Michael Ninness that lynda.com posted:
Note that even if you’re using CS4, you might still want to watch CS3 movies, because many of the features work exactly the same. For example, here’s a movie I did on drop shadows:
Of course, there are many more, which you can find by doing a search at YouTube. But I have to tell you (and I’m not trying to be a slimy marketing shill), but you can watch random videos for a week on youtube, and still not learn what you would have learned in a half day of watching at lynda.com. That’s just my 2 cents.
(Plus, did you know that you can play lynda.com videos on your iphone now? If you don’t have an iphone, then just ignore that sentence.)
InDesignSecrets Videocasts
And what discussion of InDesign videos would be complete without a shout out to our very own InDesignSecrets videocasts. We’re only up to number 9 so far (number 10 should come out shortly), but they’re chock full of educational information! (And are, we hope, fun to watch, too.) You can watch them in your web browser, or full screen on our channel at blip.tv.
Even More Great Videos at Adobe TV!
I think I posted this link some time ago, but it’s so good I have to do it again. Here’s Bob Bringhurst’s master list of InDesign videos, most of which I think point to great content at Adobe.tv and other flash-based video content at adobe.com.
I’ve watched the lynda.com videos and they are great. I frequent this site for info and I also check in with the InDesigner. Hopefully, all these sources will help me become an ACE.
Thanks for all the great info on InDesign.
