The WPPI International Convention & Trade Show is the photography industry’s premier expo and educational conference held in association with Rangefinder & AfterCapture magazines for editorial, commercial, nature, portrait and wedding photographers. It just announced its expanded WPPI EDU convention schedule February 12–19, 2009, in conjunction with its renowned WPPI 2009 Trade Show February 14–19, 2009. The convention, like the trade show itself, is in an all-new location at the MGM Grand Conference Center, Las Vegas, Nevada.

The WPPI Annual Convention & Trade Show has been a leading source of continuing education for the photographic creative industry for the last 28 years. This year, the WPPI EDU- Convention’s “World of Photo” kicks off the Vegas educational extravaganza with exclusive opportunities to learn from the best—over 130 exclusive WPPI speakers—to help photographers diversify their basic business model into other specialties and find new revenue streams of income.
Attendees have the ability to access an expanded education platform encompassing a week’s worth of choices in workshops, forums and seminars to help diversify business and creative needs.
In addition to a choice of Platform, PLUS and MasterClasses, the WPPI EDU Convention once again features its signature all-day ALL ABOUT SCHOOLS program.
All About Schools: School photography, whether it’s seniors, underclass, sports or events, is one of the fastest-growing categories in professional portraiture today. To stand out in this vast crowd, photographers need to be able to connect with the market, adapt to the changing needs and desires of young clients, and be open to new techniques and innovative strategies. Attendees of the All About Schools program will learn how to create new business, strengthen their position in the community as well as build brand awareness and create marketing opportunities to help expand or create a family portraiture business.
All About Schools is designed to help photographers break into or diversify their business in the school market as well as stimulate ideas from some of the most successful experts in this field. From the basic principles of a successful advertising campaign to increasing average order sizes, the Feb 13 & 14 program steers photographers in the right direction to build success and increase revenues in the lucrative school photography business.
There are six different speakers with unique expertise guaranteed to help fine-tune skills and develop a stronger student portraiture business. The 2009 All About Schools program kicks off on Friday night at 6:00pm with a welcome reception and opening program by Michael Redford. It picks up Saturday at 8:00 AM with an all-day program with topics that cover undergrads, seniors, yearbooks, sports photography, image building, business basics and more.
The Business Institute: Back for it’s fifth year, and better than ever!
With the growing economic challenges faced today, finding every opportunity to develop new ways to expand your business is essential. The 2009 WPPI Business Institute, which was developed to address just these challenges, promises to be an unbelievable event with an opening night reception on Friday Feb 13th and subsequent program by Yervant and Anie Zanazanian. Saturday’s all-day program kicks off on Feb 14th, with the energy and excitement of: Michele Celentano, Doug Box, André Amyot, Laura Novak, Mitche Graf and Tony Hewitt.
