When auto generating a table of contents…is there a way to get a leader tab to look more consistent from where it starts next to the text.

The space after the chapter number is never quite consistent depending on the text. I use to draw my own lines and anchor them, but now with the automation, this really isn’t efficient anymore. Any suggestions?
Hi Peggy Sue- I think the anchored item approach is the only way to make that space 100% consistent since it’s otherwise made up of characters, which are dependent on the font.
I believe the reason the spacing between the text and the first dot is variable is that InDesign is lining up all the dots from one line to the next. It looks really weird if those dots are lined up. See more on dot leaders here:
