How to Make a Timeline Quickly and Easily in InDesign

Learn how to make a quick timeline in InDesign by combining the power of anchored objects, object styles, and type on a path.

In this “Three Minutes Max” video, Laurie Ruhlin makes a quick timeline in InDesign using the power of anchored objects and object styles. She notes that this technique also works for layouts that need to be nicely spaced and where flexibility to change the layout is key, such as an org chart. Using the anchored objects, Laurie is able to keep spacing consistent and flexible, and using type on a path she is able to manipulate the layout of the individual items on the timeline.

Three Minutes Max comes from a fun—yet very competitive—session at our annual CreativePro Week conference. Speakers have three minutes to wow the audience with the tip and win a prize for a lucky conference attendee.
