This is a ridiculous price to pay if you just want commenting software. Is there an alternative?

  • Terri Stone says:

There are many alternatives, including a free one from Adobe itself: Adobe Reader. See https://www.adobe.com/products/reader/faq.html

Thanks, Terri. Does the free one have markup features? I own Acrobat Pro 9.0 but I don’t remember paying anywhere near that amount. I just recommended it to a client so he could mark up files I was laying out in InDesign and we couldn’t believe how expensive it had gotten.

  • Terri Stone says:

For details on Reader’s capabilities, read the FAQ (https://creativepro.com/article/2010-breakdown-print-electronic-marketing-material-spending) and/or download the app–it’s free!

So you’re recommending my client purchase Acrobat Pro X for $199 if he wishes to make comments on a PDF I supply, right?

  • Terri Stone says:

No, I’m not recommending any purchase, just pointing you toward one resource as you research options. There are many options — try the search engine string “PDF markup” for a start. The best choice depends on many factors, including the type of mark-up needed, OS, etc.
