Dynagram Announces DynaStrip 4.5

Dynagram, the industry leader in imposition solutions, announced the latest version of DynaStrip, its acclaimed suite of sophisticated imposition software.
DynaStrip 4.5 uses JDF 1.2 Stripping parameters generated by MIS or estimation software to initiate the creation of imposition layouts. Prepress operators simply import the JDF Stripping file from their preferred MIS or estimation software directly into DynaStrip. More than just a time saver, DynaStrip’s JDF import feature ensures that the job will be imposed as specified in the original quote, avoiding costly mistakes and reducing turnaround times.
While JDF is designed to streamline information exchange between different applications and systems, disparate islands between prepress and upstream operations still prevailed. With the 4.5 release, DynaStrip brings the prepress world one step closer to the ultimate ideal of total integration, by linking the planning/estimation process to the prepress workflow and still offering total flexibility for on-the-fly layout customization.
How it works
DynaStrip’s support for JDF Stripping is in line with the Interoperability Conformance Specifications (ICS) defined by CIP4 for MIS to prepress processes. The support includes simple impositions but also step & repeat works and multiple bindery signatures per sheet. Multi-part jobs, for example a magazine, its cover and a smaller inserted booklet, can also be imported all within the same job, thanks to DynaStrip’s multiple pagination sequences. Fold catalogs are automatically converted into page numbers and head orientations.
DynaStrip’s JDF import pre-interface ensures that all the job parameters extracted from the JDF file are isolated from the application or user defaults. Pre-press operators are therefore able to validate and complete the missing layout information beforehand, for example a more precise positioning of the signature, page bleed control, creep adjustment, addition of marks, etc., all settings that are not required for the estimation process but have a great impact on print production and overall quality.
Once the parameters are set, the operator may then generate the complete job at once or choose to create only a basic sheet with accompanying job data to be used for the assembly. The latter method gives even more flexibility for layout edition on the light table before the sheet is repeated to produce the complete job. The fine-tuning of a particular sheet or page on the light table is possible in all cases.
The resulting imposition can be outputted in any format including PDF and JDF. If the JDF format is selected, the imposition information is added to the original JDF file which is then forwarded, along with a PDF marks file, to be executed by the next JDF process (RIP or workflow).
“Dynagram is once again among the pioneers in prepress as one of the first imposition solution providers to offer true JDF integration in and out,” explained Tracey-Lee Batsford, General Manager of Prepress Solutions at Dynagram. “JDF compatibility is an often coined buzzword with little tangible and demonstrable implementations between print processes. However, DynaStrip bridges the gap between MIS and workflow, and seamless interoperability between renowned MIS systems and workflows is now very much a practical reality.”
DynaStrip 4.5 will be released shortly after Print 05.
