CS4 Compatible Plugins are Beginning to Arrive

If you use third party plugins to take advantage of features not available natively in InDesign you’ll be happy to know that CS4 compatible plugins are beginning to find their way into the market.
This is important because unlike InDesign’s Creative Suite companion, Photoshop, plugins from earlier versions simply won’t work.
Teacup Software today announced the availability of BarcodeMaker, TypeFitter, DataLinker, and PatternMaker plugins.
Recent updates were also made available by DTP Tools.
We’ll continue to keep an eye out for you early adopters.

My work around for the loss of inbooklet is to compose the document either on 11 x 17 pages or my favorite currently is to compose on 8.5 x 11 pages and then when I am done I copy and paste in place to a 11 x 17 document that I have formated and saved as a master.
I have been doing this for a few months now and have no problem exporting to pdf for my printing and mailing company.
I compose on the 8.5 x 11 pages as I also email the completed document, exported to pdf, to a couple of hundred people.
to clarify, i use indesign cs4. the adobe updates automatically popped up on my computer, so i am not sure of their specifics.
I just recently ran some adobe updates on my mac. there is a certain indesign file that i could open before without problems, but now when i try to open it, it tells me that the file cannot be opened because it may be incompatible or there may be plugins that i need. does anyone have any advice on this? are there plugins that are recommended for cs4 with recent updates?
I currently use CS3 on my Mac G3. I have a customer who wants to use CS4 on her PC. Will I be able to work with her files done in InDesign/Photoshop?
What about InPrint? Is there smthng similar?
It was powerfull add-on to CS2.
InBooklet was sold by ALAP, a company purchased by Quark several years ago.
The first thing Quark did was to cease all sales of InDesign plugins. There are many scripts available to handle simple imposition and you can always print to PDF with the Print Booklet feature.
Any news on InBooklet for CS4?
Ray, This has been discussed over and over in the User to User forums.
You might want to pop over there for the discussion which involves the use of several scripts that are floating around.
You might want to also note that you can use the print booklet feature in CS3 and CS4 and print to Adobe PDF.
Have been using the Inbooklet feature in Pagemaker and Indesign CS2. Now that I have upgraded to CS4 I find that it is not available. Looked for a substitute with out any luck. Don’t need anything fancy but it was so nice to use it then export to pdf for a couple of small newsletters I do.
Our Eyedropper Tool plug-in has just been updated for InDesign CS4.

When will the DTP Tools Keyboard Shortcuts Plugin come for CS4 ?
David: I’m well familiar with your rants about the plug-ins. But they’re an addiction that’s hard to beat. I’ve heard from Teacup and they have located the problem and tell me they should have an update tomorrow.
@Peter: As I’ve ranted about before, font activation plug-ins from all vendors are notorious for causing problems. Try disabling that first. But you should definitely contact Teacup, too, as they may be able to find a way to get around the bug (they tend to be very helpful and responsive).

I’ve been extremely happy with CS4 hardly ever crashing since I’ve installed. Today I discovered my most useful plugin, Typefitter, was available for CS4 and upgraded immediately. Now since the installation, I get the ID crash when opening some files — the exact same problem I was having with CS3. After restarting CS4, the attempted file opens with the program and everything is fine. Looks like it was Typefitter that caused the CS3 problems and now they are back in CS4. I’m wondering if there’s a Typefitter/Font Agent Pro activation conflict. Be interested to see if users of the new suitcase version have this problem. Hope they get this fixed.
