Creo and Noritsu to Offer a Complete Scanning and Output Solution to the Professional Photo Imaging Market

Creo Inc. (NASDAQ: CREO, TSX: CRE) and Noritsu America Corporation unveiled a full solution for the professional wide-format inkjet market at the International Sign Expo 2005 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The configuration is based upon the Creo iQsmart3® scanner and the Noritsu MYTIS-1 printer. This cooperative arrangement represents an excellent fit between two best-in-class imaging products.
The iQsmart scanner fills a unique niche in the professional photographic enlargement environment while the Noritsu MYTIS-1 Wide Format Inkjet printer delivers crisp detail and vivid colors that resemble a photographic print, with output up to 48″ by 192″ in size. For customers with project requirements that include high color fidelity and sharpness of detail, this product bundle is the perfect solution.
Noritsu and Creo are cooperating to provide a complete solution that will improve the quality of the digital photo reproduction process.
Better print quality, better competitive edge
The best print quality achieved on an output device-regardless of its resolution, color fidelity and image enhancement capabilities-depends on the original image that is scanned and the quality of the scanner. Truly professional scanners can create high-quality enlargements even from 35mm images, retaining the picture information and enhancing it for printing. Creo offers a range of high-quality scanners that enable users to choose the right price/performance combination for their workflow and color reproduction needs.
When scanning with the intent to print on a MYTIS-1 printer, MYTIS-1 color ICC profiles-included with the oXYgen Scan software-are used during the scanning process, and can be easily selected via the oXYgen Scan software setup dialog as output profiles. This enables customers to see a true screen-simulation of the final printed results, and to deliver either an RGB file or a final CMYK file created using the correct color transformation.
Through a tailor-made workflow, a true 16-bit image capture depth allows the best image tonal reproduction possible. The final print is simulated on the screen, which allows the customer to do the soft proofing before printing.
“The professional lab and signage market has undergone a recent digitization of products and solutions, through digital photography; high-resolution, wide-format inkjet printers; and imaging technology. Wide-format photo-realistic inkjet printing is clearly a rapid growth area, bringing the highest profit margin of any print application,” said Ziv Argov, Director of Marketing, Creo. “We are committed to providing our joint customers with the best color imaging solutions available, and this configuration with Noritsu assures their ability to offer sharper and better results. Together, we bring over 25 years of imaging experience to the market. Through Creo’s scanning, archiving and Noritsu’s superior output capabilities we can provide the best solution that helps create digital prints and image archives that are designed for longevity.”
Delivering Value
“This collaboration brings added value to our customers by enabling us to offer them a full solution,” said Greg Joe, Marketing Manager, Noritsu America Corporation. “We are providing our customers with the best color solutions available.”
MYTIS-1prints require no lamination, are extremely graffiti resistant, and will last 3-5 years outdoors. A variety of media is available including backlit, metallic, and reflective finishes with adhesive-backed or front adhesive variations. The MYTIS-1 is ideal for producing indoor/outdoor signs, in-store displays, point-of-purchase materials and backlit displays.
