BAM! Can’t get much punchier than that! I see cartoon graphics, starbursts. How did I get to the name? Adobe-Macro-Media translated literally can be Brick, Abbreviation, Message – not so catchy. BAM – who wouldn’t want that as a product name? "We used to be AMM, now we’re BAM." "Adobe. Macromedia. BAM!"
Cmedia: I offer this as a result of the icons of the Adobe Flagships Photoshop and Illustrator. Both have references to the letter ‘C’ as in "See" with the consistent eye of photoshop (I know they changed it) and the Aphrodite images of Illustrator referring to the "Sea".
Although I think a name of incomprehensible initials would be the most appropriate, as Adobe started the ridiculous trend of naming software upgrades with suffixes other than .2, .3, etc., confusing the masses with CS (so CSMX, though too easy, would qualify), there will only be one possible name. When Adobe acquired Aldus, they took the first letter of Aldus and melded on the last four letters of Adobe. So this time, quite obviously they’ll take the LAST letter of Macromedia and then add on the last four letters of Adobe. Here’s what will happen: The letters "a", "o" and "e" in Macromedia will be incorporated into the new company name: "Adobe". This is more than what happened with the Aldus acquisition, when they only used the "A".
