New Contest! Solve the Mystery of the Unwelcome Text Wrap

Hey folks, it’s contest time again!

Last month, I received many creative and correct answers to the Mystery of the Missing Image. And this month I expect to get even more, because, frankly this one’s easier.

And because we’re expecting to get more correct entries, we’re giving away more prizes! Three lucky winners will receive a license for Multi-Find/Change 2.0 from Automatication. This powerful extension for InDesign and InCopy CS6–CC 2014 allows you create, save, and run batches of Find/Change queries. It’s almost like having another text processing application running inside InDesign.

For a shot at winning a copy of Multi-Find/Change, you need to figure out the reason for the following problem:

Bill was a happy and productive InDesign user until suddenly one day he noticed that whenever he placed images into a document, they caused overset text. Like so:

To troubleshoot, Bill created a new document, placed some text and some images in it, and the problem happened again!

Then he opened some old documents and placed some images in them. Everything worked fine in those old documents—no overset text.

He could even copy an image from an old document and paste it into a new document, and it would not cause overset text. But placing that same image directly in the new document always caused overset.

What was causing this problem and how could Bill fix it quickly?

Email me your solution at mike at indesignsecrets.com before Wednesday March 18th, 2015.

At that time, I’ll reveal the solution and choose three winners at random from the correct answers.

Good luck!
