Call for Entries for Type Calendar
The typeface-a-day calendar Typodarium is currently looking for submissions for its 2016 calendar. The popular calendar, published each year by Verlag Hermann Schmidt Mainz, is looking for foundries, designers, and others to submit their quality typeface. The submitted typeface needs to be one that’s publicly available and, if chosen, Typodarium’s publisher will have the option to sell it, too.
Each calendar page features a typeface name and an example on the front, with its history, interesting facts, and prominent uses of the typeface listed on the back. The original printing will be a run of 10,000 and—according to the publisher—will be available for purchase “in museum shops and selected bookstores.” Of course, those with typefaces included in Typodarium will receive a free copy of the calendar.
If you decide to submit a typeface for consideration, you have the option of choosing which day your creation will occupy on the calendar. Currently, there are over 200 days left to choose from, with most of the good days already taken. In fact, the only special holiday still open at the time of this writing is my birthday, so you might want to snatch that puppy up while you can! The deadline for submission to Typodarium 2016 is January 17, 2015 and the calendar will be ready for distribution in July.
