AppleScript Pro Sessions Announces Special Guests
Organizers of AppleScript Pro Sessions have announced two special guest presenters for AppleScript Pro and extended the early bird registration deadline to March 22.
Matt Neuburg, author of "AppleScript: The Definitive Guide" from O’Reilly and TidBITS Contributing Editor since 1991, will again be leading a session on AppleScript Studio. "Matt gave an exciting presentation our last two sessions, revealing many little-known tips for working with Xcode, Interface Builder, and Cocoa," said Ray Robertson, session co-leader. "We are delighted to have him back."
InDesign guru, desktop publishing pioneer and author Olav Martin Kvern of Adobe Systems will be back again, this time presenting a session on scripting XML in InDesign. "We gladly welcome Olav back," said Shane Stanley, session co-leader. "Olav has been a prominent member of the automation world since writing the Desktop Science articles for Aldus Magazine years ago. He understands the value of scripting to users and not just programmers. Both Olav and Matt deliver their message with passion and style."
This will be the seventh session of this unique training event led by Robertson and Stanley, and once again some alumni will be in attendance. For the first time, students are also registered from Australia and Mexico; past events have attracted attendees from Sweden, Norway, London, and New Zealand.
The leaders emphasize that the sessions will cover the latest software upgrades. "We pride ourselves on being right up-to-date," said Stanley. "If it’s shipping, we’ll be showing. We think we have an exciting week ahead."
AppleScript is a uniquely approachable automation technology bundled with the Macintosh operating system. The classes are suited to both beginners and experienced scripters. The first day is an introduction to AppleScript/refresher session, and the following days take a practical approach to scripting applications including InDesign, QuarkXPress, Photoshop, Illustrator, FileMaker, AppleScript Studio, and more.
Pricing starts at $1200 for any three days, with a special discounted package of $1600 for all five days. The early bird rate is available through March 22.
The sessions will be at the Casa Munras Hotel, which is in downtown Monterey and now features wireless broadband access in every room. Attendees may reserve a room at the hotel for a special group rate of $94/night which includes a full breakfast. The number of rooms at the conference hotel is very limited, so early registration is strongly encouraged.
