Adobe Releases FrameMaker 9, Announces New Suite Configuration
Adobe FrameMaker 9 software is a powerful authoring and publishing solution for technical communicators. Take advantage of an intuitive user interface, unified workflows, and a template-based authoring environment to simplify content delivery and conform to organizational requirements for consistency and branding.
New Features
New, intuitive user interface. Work more efficiently through a completely redesigned user experience. Use floating toolbars and control bars, dock your most frequently used dialog boxes for quick access, and create workspaces customized to your workflow.
Book and structured book capabilities. Employ a new user interface for books as well as tools for hierarchical books and books within books. Incorporate XML files and other structured Adobe FrameMaker documents, and reference DITA maps or bookmaps.
Full support for DITA standards. Take advantage of DITA 1.1 support, including Bookmap, Indexing, and Glossary specifications. FrameMaker 9 also supports the DITA 1.2 Learning and Training Content Specialization (beta) specification for developing compelling training content.
Special object management for books and DITA maps. Easily view, navigate, and edit documents through new, dockable dialog boxes. Work more efficiently with markers, variables, fonts, conditional text, graphics, cross-references, and text insets.
Out-of-the-box CMS integration support. Smoothly integrate your content with your organization’s content management system (CMS) through enhanced WebDAV support. Work more efficiently in structured authoring and DITA workflow environments.
Importing of comments from PDF files. Easily gather and incorporate review comments from subject matter experts and other colleagues. Use the Track Text Edits feature and a new user interface to efficiently manage review processes.
Windows CMYK support. Publish composite PDF objects that support Windows CMYK for better print capabilities.

* Some GPU-accelerated features require graphics support for Shader Model 3.0 and OpenGL 2.0
* Some features in Adobe Bridge rely on a DirectX 9–capable graphics card with at least 64MB of VRAM
