Visualizing Data with Charts and Graphs
Amy Balliett

These days, you’d be hard pressed to remember a time when you could go a whole week without seeing, sharing, or interacting with data visualizations. With data all around us, making it easy to digest and sharable has become a necessity. And because of this, designers today aren't just expected to deliver great design, they are expected to be masters of data visualization as well. But data viz seems far easier than it is. Mistakes run rampant, and visualizations can be hard to customize to match a design aesthetic. If you're a designer being asked to visualize data, this session is for you! You will learn the ins and outs of visualizing data in Illustrator as well as mistakes to avoid to ensure you get it right every time.

You’ll learn:

  • How to use Illustrator’s chart and graphing tools
  • How to customize the design of your data visualizations
  • How to identify the right charts/graphs to use for your visualization
  • Common mistakes to avoid

Jason Hoppe

Making sure your Illustrator file is created, saved, and exported correctly is a fundamentally important job. When performing these basic but critical tasks, you need to consider questions such as: What is the file's end use? What is the best universal format to use for all media? What checklist should I follow to make files work well in any scenario?

Whether you need to save files for use on the web, in Photoshop, InDesign, Word, or video (or all of the above!) this session for you.

In this session, you will learn:

  • When to use AI, SVG, and PDF
  • How to create a checklist to make sure your file is built in the right color mode, size, and format.

She will share simple methods to generate bold motifs, and share resources for finding existing patterns and modifying them to suit your needs—because you don’t always need to start from scratch.

Interview with Illustrator and Designer Sophia Yeshi
Interviewed by Nicte Cuevas

Join us for this inspirational and educational interview of Brooklyn-based illustrator and graphic designer, Sophia Yeshi. Our interviewer, Nicte Cuevas, will explore topics such as color, culture, identity, and the importance of brand in this special session you don't want to miss.

Get a taste of the must-see content you’ll experience at The Adobe Illustrator Summit 2022 — enjoy Tony Harmer’s session from our 2021 event entitled, Infographics.

While Tony can’t join us at this year’s event, we’re releasing his amazing session from last year as an example of the kinds of sessions you’ll see this year.

ABOUT THIS SESSION: Considering that high quality infographics are 30 times more likely to be read than text articles, it’s no wonder that creating infographics is one of the biggest asks for designers these days. But for many designers, data can be daunting! Good drawing methodologies can be the key to successful and efficient (or just calm, and hassle-free) infographic design.

In this session, you’ll learn how to:

  • Develop tighter Illustrator skills to make dynamic graphics
  • Put Google Sheets (and sometimes Excel) to work for you
  • Deal with irregular scales
  • Create a chart where no usable chart type exists
  • Go beyond the Illustrator chart types

Dave Clayton shows off a third-party tool for creating long block shadows in Illustrator. This tip is a sneak peek of Dave’s upcoming Adobe Illustrator Summit session, Turbocharge Illustrator with 3rd Party Add-Ons.
