TOC for merged data

      I have a catalog with 50 merged photos on 25 pages. I am going crazy trying to create a TOC for these photos. I selected all the data in the master document and applied a paragraph style to them including hidden text. The TOC renders with all the information in the master even though I only want the first two entries.

      Then I tried to assign a character style to those two entries but the TOC came up empty. I have no hair left! How do I create a toc using merged data and use only two of the merged fields?
