CC 2017 IDML files will not open in any InDesign version

      Since upgrading to CC 2017, the IDML files I have exported have not been able to be opened. I trashed the InDesign preferences hoping that might help, but it did not. I have tried opening the IDML files in CS6 and CC2017. In each version, the open document bar comes up, fills the wait line to approximately 90% and then sits there and does nothing more, and I have to force quit. I would appreciate any advice on resolving this problem.

      I have no idea. Maybe try to open without the fonts turned on (or in the Document Fonts folder)?

      Several months ago I got a few IDML files from someone that were exported from CC2017–and I think it took almost 20 minutes for each file to open in CC2015.

      How long are you waiting until you are force quitting?

      Dwayne, thank you for your response. I found, as you said, that the secret to opening IDML files is patience. My documents were large— 600+ pages with over 10,000 index markers. It took over 3 hours to open the IDML file. I just didn’t give it enough time. I appreciate your input.

        Glad you got it open. That was a long time–but again–that file was pretty bloated with information.
