Hi there! Should be pretty easy for a lot of you, but i’m a new commer to InDesign… I’m writing a cookbook and I have around 900 recipes written in individual .txt docs. I’m searching a way I can copy-paste easily all of em without always editing the canvas of each recipes.
You can see the example here:

I actually have a great tip that will let you format the recipe in 2 steps, after you create the template. It is creating the template that is a little difficult… I thought I wrote this up somewhere but I cannot find it. Hold on…

Ah, I found it… unfortunately it is a Lynda.com video and I think you need a membership to watch it:
      https://www.lynda.com/InDesign-tutorials/214-Formatting-text-quickly-Apply-Next/85324/439035-4.html

The quick version is that you set up paragraph styles using “Next Style” and then use the Apply Style then Next feature (which you can build into an object style).

Raphael, hello! Unfortunately I cannot help you, I just wanted to let you know you aren’t alone in feeling like a “noob”. ? I’m very new to InDesign as well, and I will spend hours searching for an answer before posting the question. This website has been very helpful and everyone has been so kind and patient with me. I was solely using the Adobe forum, but for some reason now when I try to access it (from any browser and after clearing my cache etc.), I get an error that there were too many redirects and it won’t let me in. This site is great though! I’m glad I’m not the only newbie here! I’m sure there are plenty, but you’re the first one I’ve seen that’s almost as new as I am. ? Have a wonderful day! Good luck with your project!

        ^^And we’re happy you are here :)

And everyone is new at it at the beginning.

I remember when I had to teach myself back when it was InDesign 1.5. Owners of our typesetting house told a client “sure we can use InDesign….”

The client said it was a very simple job.

Well–it had about three hundred photos, text wraps, etc. Definitely not easy for my first job in ID.

        But I slugged through it.

Though I wasn’t thrilled at the time, my being able to do that book meant increased business for us as many other typsetting houses said “nope, we don’t use InDesign and are sticking with Quark.”
