I don’t do to much Data Merging, but recently I’ve had to. its worked every time, until now.

I’ve got a text file with 2550 lines (Different content on each line), and what to make a label for each line of the text file, with a 6mm gap between them. I’ve created a template with 25 boxes and locked the layer. Then created a text field and them imported the text file into the Data Merge window, all seems OK, Select all records, choose Multiple records, again all seems OK, check the box Preview Multiple Record Layout, I can go through all 102 pages which I want to end up with. Great I say to myself, so hit OK. It takes a while quite a lot of records, what happens next is the strange thing I can’t work out, it finishes and places 1 record per page, but creates the file with the 25 locked boxes 5×5 off the page and 1 record every 5th box, ending up with 25 boxes on the page and 600 on the pasteboard.

      HELP

      Thanks
      Darryl

That is very, very odd. Does it work if you try limiting the number of records (in the Generate Merge dialog box) to just 50 or so? Is the template text frame on the master page or the document page?

I feel such a fool, next time somebody gives me a text file I need to check it is definatley a text file, not saved a Unicode (UTF-8). It worked a treat when I realised what had happened and I saved it as a text file

      Regards
      Darryl
