I’m trying to place multiple single Excel spreadsheet cells and have named each one in the Excel spreadsheet, e.g., A1 = Test, A2 = Test2, A3 = Test3, etc.
In ID I have “Show import options” checked and select the Excel file but the MS Excel Import Options dialogue, Cell Range does NOT show the named cells; just the entire spreadsheet range “A1:AM496” AND “_xlnm.Print_Area”.
I can enter a cell number, like B1, B2 etc. and that individual cell will place and link back to the original. If I enter one of the names I created I get the error “You have not entered a valid ‘Cell Range’. Select a named range or enter a valid range specification.”
Clearly there’s an issue but I can’t identify it. I have followed all the steps from the tutorials here and at the Adobe support groups but still get the same results, no named ranges listed.
Any and all suggestions or comments are gratefully accepted!
PS: I tried naming two adjacent cells and lo and behold the name shows up; but not a SINGLE named cell.
Excel help files state a single cell or multiple cells can be named but does InDesign only recognize multiple cells as a named range? Does anyone have some clarification on that?
Thanks in advance!
