Hi All, this is my first post.

I’m working on a book in InDesign and struggling to remove formatting added in Word. In particular, there are dichotomous keys where a given sentence ends and then has a right aligned number. Multiple full stops/periods have been used in Word as required to (fake) right-align the number rather than using tabs e.g.

      5. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do………………………….7
      6. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur………………………………………………25

We would like to find any instance of >1 . and replace that sequence of ………. with a single tab. The number of …… is unfortunately variable otherwise it would have been easy to deal with by standard find/replace.

Any ideas how to do this with GREP?

      Thanks in advance.

Find what: \.\.+(?=\d) // i.e. find two or more consecutive dots followed by a digit
      Change to:

      Peter

At first I couldn’t make it work, until I realised the strings of dots were strings of ellipses.

Fixed, thanks so much for your help.
