I have 150 page document with a lot of superscripts formatted (1)
I want to change the format to just a superscript number without the parenthesis.
Is GREP the way to do that? GREP is new to me so I hope someone can help me.

      Find What: (\()(\d+)(\))
      Change To: $2
      Find Format: Superscript

I just want to make sure: are these footnote markers? Because if they are ‘real’ footnote markers, then you change its appearance in the Document Footnote Options, and you don’t use GREP for that.

      Hi Ari,
      Thanks for you help.
What I need to find is already superscript formatted text like (1). They are not footnote markers. The superscript numbers are used as references in a thesis. But they should be formatted without the parenthesis, so the existing superscript references has to change.

So the GREP that I gave you should work. Unless if only the digits are in superscript and the parentheses are not.
