Hello everyone, I am working on an existing brochure that I am making interactive for the online version. Indesign CC 2015.2 release.
I have worked with buttons and hyperlinks abundantly before. However, I am having real problems this time. Even though I am doing everything correctly, I cannot get a group, or even a text or picture box, to become a hyperlink. It’s set correctly, the URL is correct, it works if I assign the URL to a text selection – but not if I assign it to a group or an object.

Similarly, if I turn a group into a button, assigning a ‘Go to URL’ action on rollover, and giving that group a different colour in the rollover state – nothing happens. Better said, nothing happens in the Epub preview/ or online publication: it does happen in the SWF preview, which is no use to me. It does prove to me that I have set everything correctly, but it doesn’t help as I won’t be able to use the Flash format.

There is no reason that I can think of that would prevent me from creating buttons that change color on rollover and send you to a URL, and then publishing online. Is there?

Can anyone help? it’s driving me bonkers.

SO: hyperlinks work only applied to selected text. Not to text or picture frames or groups. Buttons only work in Flash preview, not epub.

      Many thanks in advance.

something’s wonky w/your InDesign Piccia. Both groups and objects can be hyperlinks or buttons that lead to URLs. I just retested to confirm.

      Here’s the Publish Online version:

      Maybe try rebuilding your prefs?

I’m using InDesign CC 2015.3 (latest update). I know that earlier versions of CC, perhaps 2014, could not do object hyperlinks in FXL. Be sure you’re in the right version?
