Hello! I’m a total newb, so let me apologize in advance…I just got InDesign a week ago.

I’m trying to make icons to put on a resume, so I’m basically downloading little images, putting them into a circle and placing them on my resume.

First question. I found a link for how to do this in photoshop which I’ve attached below – does anyone know how to do it in ID? I’ve figured out how to make a perfect circle but I CANNOT get it to change the color of the outline (stroke?) of the circle to black and leave the inside white. Whenever I go to the color pallet it just gives me a solid black circle.

      Thank you!

Every object in InDesign can have a fill and a stroke color. You can control these separately by choosing colors in the Control panel (across the top of the screen). Or, in the Swatches or Colors panel, you need to select Fill or Stroke before applying a color (those are two icons that are overlapping in the upper-left corner).
