    I am trying to get a text variable from the right page to appear as a running header on the left page.
    The item variable text is an Event title, and its page position varies. I’m not keen on extending its container across the spine, or using phantom threaded boxes.

    Any ideas on how to get indesign to pick this up across the spread?

    What you need is In-Tools Power Headers. It i very affordable at only $59. https://in-tools.com/products/plugins/power-headers/

    “Spread Headers and Column Headers: Power Headers allows the selection of a “Source Range”. A source range can be “Page”, “Spread” or “Column”. This enables creating “spread reflective” and “column reflective” headers.”
