Hi all. I need some help removing the indent from the edge of the text box in InDesign (not from the number) in my numbered list. This is because it is not visible in print view but when I export to ePUB then the list is indented from the left alignment. It doesn’t look terrible, but that’s a lot of real estate lost with a small screen view, and it ends up starting the list in the centre of the screen rather than the left edge. Not sure I have explained this correctly, but I’m hoping someone can help!!

It sounds as though you want the same InDesign document to work for both print and epub. That can work, but you often need to create a custom CSS file that you attach to the epub when exporting. Often, people just take their print indesign file and then make significant changes to it to make it epub-ready (so they end up with two different INDD files).

It started as a print indesign file but using ePub course through Lynda, from AnneMarie it is completely set up for ePub. So yes 2 different files. Still indents and cannot remove.

Are these automatic numbered/bulleted lists? (And if so, did you leave them as such or did you turn on Convert to Static in the export to EPUB dialog box)

And what version of ID are you using?

I ask because possible reasons and fixes depend on how they were set up in ID and how ID does with the conversion, which is dependent on the version.

Hi Anne-Marie! How cool to be talking directly to you!! You’re a celebrity!

Yes they are styled numbers – from Type – numbering/bullets, and I also have a paragraph style & object style set for them. Where is the option to convert them to static? Is that what I need to do? I have looked in “Paragraph style – right click edit” and export – epub – bullets and numbering option, can’t see where static is.

I am using InDesign CC 2105.2 Release

      Thanks Anne-Marie!!
