    In the middle of a document, for no reason at all, typing Alt-8 to create a bullet just stops working entirely. It will be working fine and then all of a sudden, it just creates nothing. If I show hidden characters, it shows nothing there. I can still use alt-0149 on the keypad to create the bullet, but it’s a really annoying, frequent occurrence for both me and several of my coworkers. Closing and restarting ID or the document does not solve the problem. It will just start working again at some point with no warning.

    I have ID CC on Windows 7, but I’ve had this error going back several versions.

    When the alt-8 stops working have you checked in the keyboard shortcuts menu under the type menu to see if alt-8 was still set to “Insert Special Character: Symbols: Bullet Character”?

    Yes, the keyboard shortcut is fine. Sometimes the ability to use the shortcut will just suddenly come back hours later, or after a document is closed or the program is restarted. It happens to my whole department with no logical reason. You can literally be typing bullets no problem and a few paragraphs later it is completely unable to use the shortcut and we resort to Alt-0149 each time or copy/paste. Very frustrating.
