Can anyone tell me what to look for in the content of an indd file that identifies it as being created by a specific version? I have a script that will open files using Adobe Indesign CC 2014 (version 10) but it will not open 2015 files. I’d like to identify 2015 files before I have Indesign try to open them. It looks to me that the XMP content is somewhat unreliable because it will have older instances of the Indesign list in Creator if the file was saved first by an older version.

Sony used to do this, but I’m not sure if it has been updated for CC 2015.

Not strictly what I am looking for. My application recurses through directories looking for .indd files. These can come from multiple sources, so the creator version can be different. I don’t have CC2015, so I want to skip those files. I can have my code open the file and look for data in it before I pass it to Indd. So what is the data element that defines whether it was created with CC2014 or CC2015?

I’m going on the assumption that the Indd file contains a data element that identifies whether it can be opened in the current version that’s running. Does anyone know what that data element is?

The place I’d look for figuring out the version for an ID file would be in Jongware’s “IDentify.jsx”, described in the “zombie” thread [Ann] Identify Your InDesign File” https://forums.adobe.com/message/8041184#8041184> edited for typos).
