      Hi All,

I’m looking (hoping) at various ways to extract automated data in order to re-purpose it to data merge templates built in another application.
      Basically a reverse Data merge.

I’m exploring various ways to extract the data – building in XML tags, HTML export etc. Anne-Marie has also suggested using RegEx GREP search to extract the data i need once i have extracted the product data from the Indesign document – I still need to explore and test this, which is the second step. First step is to extract the data i need from the indesign document.

I have found that everything i need is set in the Conditional Text, the Data AND the tags; some hidden, some not – depending on the product and conditions. It can also get a more complex where duplicate data changes out via Object States for different locations.

IF can extract ALL of it (Data tags and Data, populated or null) as XML or txt format then I can look at different ways to reformat it it back into a CSV file.

I can’t plug into the original data source, also it may not be accurate as is it highly possible manual changes may have been made to the Indesign document.

      Hope this all makes sense.

      Thanks in advance!

      Hylda
