I am an InDesign typist working with an ID document created by a designer. Having difficulty with what looks to be a pasteboard attached to the document. When I drag objects off the document to the attached pasteboard and then further, off to MY pasteboard, all text, tables or other objects disappear! Also, the document’s “pasteboard” takes up so much space that I don’t have enough room to work. If instead of a pasteboard, it is a slug area, how to I get rid of it – can’t find. Not understanding what I am dealing with. I am on a PC. Thanks for any educational advice.

There is always a pasteboard. But—if it’s disappearing on your document, make sure you have “normal view” on, and not “preview,” “bleed,” or “slug.”

If the designer did increase the slug area, you can change that by doing to document set up. Check under the “bleed and slug” options.

If you want a smaller pasteboard, you can go to the preferences and adjust the horizontal pasteboard measurement (under Guides and Pasteboard).
