Alternate Layout Error

I have a vertical (portrait) document in which I am trying to create a horizontal (landscape) alternate layout

I want to Link Stories and Copy Text Styles to New Style Group. However, when I try to create the alternate layout, I get an error dialog that says:
“One or more of the styles were not mapped. Cannot create a mapped style when one of the source styles is based on another source style.”

Following which, the alternate layout is NOT created.

There are many text styles based on others; but this alone should not prevent the creation of a New Style Group nor certainly not the new alternate layout. I did not create this document originally, and wonder if anyone has any advice on where to begin looking for correction to this error?

      Thanks,
      –Diane

Caution: no solution offered in this post. ;-\ Just commiseration …

      Ouch! Weird!

Hrm. It has to be a new glitch otherwise we would’ve encountered it already … Alt Layouts have been around since CS6.

Erica Gamet does a lot of work w/the feature … could be worth a ping to her.
