PNG messes up my fonts in PDF, but not JPEG

      Hi,

When I copy a graphic from a Word doc, or when I place a .png graphic into my .indd (CS6) file, it looks OK in InDesign, but when I generate a PDF, the fonts are slightly fuzzier on pages that contain graphics.

If I place a .jpg file the fonts on those pages do not become ‘fuzzier’.

      Any ideas?

      Thanks.

Don’t copy and paste from Word – that is disaster waiting to happen.

Instead save the file as a .docx in Word

      Change the extension to .zip

      Unzip the file

      Go to media folder

And the images should be there.

PNG is not designed for printing – it’s web format – although it can certainly be placed in InDesign and used in print.

The reason for the fuziness is probably due to the fact that PNG contain transparency – the thing to do is make sure the text is on a layer above the image.

And also export to PDF and in the Export PDF options choose Acrobat 5.0 or above.
