      Hello

I have a question about the font size field and manually resizing a text frame.

If you have some text in a text frame (say 12pt type) and you manually resize the text frame (command>shift grab corner and resize), and then select the type and view it’s size in the Font Size field it will display something like 12 pt(6.2) what does this mean?

I have figured that the 12 pt refers to the original point size and the second smnaller number refers to the resized size, but why are they displaying together and what is the purpose of having a text frame with this behaviour..? ie. why does it not just show 6.2pt without the 12pt ? If I click the resize arrows up or down, both numbers increase or decrease together. The only way to fix this that I have found is to create a new text frame and start from scratch. Is there any way of reverting the text frame from this state to normal state.

Hope this makes sense. This is not so much a problem than just curious as to whether there’s good reason for this behaviour.

      Thank you

      Hi,

This is in the preferences under General > When Scaling. Change it to Apply To Content and it will stop doing this. But to fix your current text frame you can go to the main flyout menu in the very top right of your screen next to the lightning bolt then select ‘Redefine Scaling AS 100%’

      Cheers

Thank you so much Salieri, understand what’s happening now. Cheers for that.
