Autmoatically add an Object at start of a Paragraph Style?

I routinely put together pages of CD album reviews for a music magazine, arranged in columns. Each review has to have a text-anchored square frame inserted right at the start of the first paragraph.

I currently leave the insertion of all these frames until last – I just go through hitting cmd-V to paste each one in. But it’s a pain to have to do this for around 100 CD reviews. Is there any way of automating this? Some way of adding an object to a paragraph style? I’m pretty sure the answer is no. Could a script be written to do this – so that every time a paragraph style was used, this object would be inserted automatically?

It should be possible, actually. Create your object, and cut it to the clipboard as usual.

Now, do a GREP search for the beginning of the paragraph, set the search paragraph style as needed, and replace with the contents of the clipboard, formatted.

The result will be that this object appears at the start of each of the paragraphs with the style you specify.

A simple answer might be to save a snippet that includes the object, add that to your library, and drag it in at the start of each review.

An alternative is to set up the anchored object and save just that to a Library. Every time you add from the library it will snap in place.

A third option is to set up a template the reviews and just pour the text into the template, which would already include the frame.

Thanks very much for the replies. Inspired by Ariel’s reply, a quick bit of googling found me this very handy page:

      https://creativepro.com/favorite-grep-expressions-you-can-use.php

with this great piece of GREP on it:

find ^(.) and change to ~C$1
Cut object to clipboard first and specify the particular paragraph style to look for and it works brilliantly

This is amazing, and will save me so much time!
