I’m a newbie to InDesign, currently using version CS 5.5. (Also, taking David’s excellent course on Lynda.com)
Was able to import a multipage pdf file into InDesign, but for some reason cannot edit it. The text tool won’t even select the text. How do I fix this ?

      Thanks,
      John

Hi John. Glad you’re enjoying my course! However, InDesign cannot edit placed PDFs. They’re just pictures. To convert a PDF into an editable document, you’d need a third-party tool like PDF2ID (we talk about that from time to time in our podcast, such as this one, where they were a sponsor: https://creativepro.com/podcasts/podcast-210 )

If you need to do simple corrections to the PDF, Acrobat does have some tools that allow for some editing, I dont know if I would rely on it for major fixes, but it works in a pinch.

      David and Ron,

Thanks for the information. I don’t think Acrobat is the right tool for the job.
I saw mention that PDF2ID had a discount code at one time. Anyone one know if that is still available?

You might just have to reach out to Recosoft and ask them if they have that offer still going for indesignsecrets readers/listeners.
