FAB Futures Award 2008 — and the Winner Is…

The winners of the internationally renowned creative awards program in the Food and Beverage industry have been announced! Winners of the “FAB Awards 2008” (www.fabawards.com) were honored at a glamorous awards ceremony in London on May 22nd. An estimated 3600 entries from talented designers in 65 countries were received. Now in its 10th year, the participant list of the FAB Awards includes famous names and leading agencies from the international advertising scene. The StockFood Group, the world’s leading food & beverage image agency, sponsored a newly designed category this year entitled the “FAB Futures Award”. The “FAB Futures Award” honors outstanding design talents. This year the award went to a creative individual from Portugal.
Young creative advertising designers (participation was limited to entrants under 30 years of age) had the opportunity to create an advertisement for a fictitious food or beverage brand, in the “Print/Poster” or the “Packaging Design” category. FAB sponsor, StockFood, kindly provided 10 food & beverage images from its extensive archive (www.stockfood.com) as work material for the competition.
It is clear how well known and prestigious the FAB Awards are in the international food & beverage scene when one sees the quantity and quality of the submissions from all over the world. Global industrial giants such as Coca Cola, Heinz, Burger King, McDonald’s, Kellogg’s, Mars and Red Bull participated in more than 20 award categories as well as renowned advertising agencies such as BBDO, McCann Erickson, Scholz & Friends and TBWA.
Teco Cipriano, a 30-year-old Brazilian from Portugal, was the winner of the FAB Futures Award 2008. His poster design, entitled “Hot Sauce”, for a spicy barbeque sauce that brought raw meat on the barbeque to sizzling temperatures, enthralled the top-class FAB jury. Pete A. Eising, President and CEO of the StockFood Group, presented the prize in person at the noble Hurlingham Club in London and praised the excellent high quality of the competition ideas.
Further nominations for the FAB Futures Awards went to two British designers, Owen Evans and Minisha Mistry. Evans impressed the jury with a humorous design for olive oil and Mistry secured a nomination with her idea for body lotion packaging that toyed with associations to jam products.
