I am trying to conform to Chicago with regard to breaking URLs, and so use a soft return within to break the lines properly for print product.

When exporting to interactive pdf, some of the pdfs are not working correctly, they are truncated in the fly-out at the soft return, and therefore the website is not found. When I copy and paste the entire URL from either Indesign, or the resulting PDF, they work, so the problem is not with the link itself, but how Indesign is handling the line breaks. Oddly, other URLs broken with the soft return ARE found correctly. It is hit or miss, without any apparent pattern. I have used the hyperlink panel to convert all URLs to hyperlinks prior to output.

How are other compositors handling the correct breaking of URLs for print product, without tampering with their functionality in interactive PDF output?

I am currently working in CS6, PC platform.

      thanks for any help!
