lost image clearity while exporting to pdf

      will anyone please tell me how to set the values for export option??
      i checked my link panel, there are no error regarding linking images,
      but i am not getting how to set the values for export option, and main thing at what resolution i place the image in indesign,
      i use the photoshop cs4 for changing the image size and resolutiom.
      i need ur guidance,
