In prepping Word files for import into InDesign (Mac OS), I would like to be able to drop a folder full of Word .docx files onto a script or applet that will do the following:

      1. Accept all tracked changes in each Word file
      2. Turn off Markup (so when I print, I get the Word file without the Markup panel)
      3. Save as a .doc file (not .docx).

I have some projects where I get hundreds of single-page Word files. I have a script for placing them all into InDesign together, but first they all need to be the same file type and I really would like to be able to get rid of the tracked changes as well.

I believe Automator or Applescript could do this – does anyone know of a script to do these things?

Hi Matt, I think you can raise your query to the Applescript forum on https://macscripter.net/

Let see what they have in their boxes.

Thanks for the link – I will join the Applescript forum and try there; if I have success I’ll report back here.

      Mahmood,

I have hired a developer to help me and we’re currently working on it. He is working on a Visual Basic script to run from within Word.

If it works, I’ll let you know.
