Did not catch it before copying & pasting into my indesign doc, but I just pasted all prices formatted as currency ($##,### or $###) in Excel, but I need them to be just digits (##### or ###). I fear that GREP may be needed. I have no clue where to start? Help!

I should add that all of the text I want to change (& the only text I want it to look at) is in table cells.

\$\d+\,\d\d\d finds the first type of price I’m looking for but I do not know how to replace it with the digits.

        Hi Kiley

I believe if you search for (\$)(\d+)\,(\d+) and replace with $2$3 that it will work.

This searches for a ‘$’ followed by one or more digits, followed by a comma, followed by one or more digits and then replaces with just the found digits.

I think this is what you are trying to achieve”

Thank you, GREP genius! I’m so thankful. I’m hoping my Boss will get me a Lynda.com account soon so I can take some classes on GREP. I think it would really help things along.

      You’re welcome Kiley.

If you have the time, a good way to practice and learn GREP is to visit forums like this and read through the solutions, plus of course pitch in and try to work out a solution yourself if you can.

The latest version of Indesign Magazine has some really good GREP articles in it that are really clear and easy to understand.
