So I love Ai’s “new from template” option and was wondering if there was a similar menu option in ID?

I know there’s the option to “save as a template” but then you have to manually navigate to that file to open. If there was a “new from template” menu option as there is in Ai it would be alot simpler to implement the templates. The only advantage the templates have now over using a previous version is that you can’t save over a previous job, which, is fine and all, but I’ll take my chances.

      Any help would be great.

I’m not a big AI user, so I’m not sure how that feature works. In ID, you can open any document and choose the “As a Copy” radiobutton at the bottom of the Open dialog box, and it will open it as a “template,” so you don’t technically need to save it as a template.

Thanks for the reply David. I really wish they would implement the menu option so you can save you’re custom templates in a “library” like Ai does so when you choose that option it’ll navigate directly to that folder instead of you have to navigate to it yourself from wherever you last saved something.

I guess there are ways around it but it would still be nice! :-)
