      Hi,

I’m having problems with InDesign server making errors with missing links of .doc files
When i open the files i don’t see anything in the links panel or anywhere else for that matter.
I there a way to unlink or delete those links so that indesign server will stop makin those errors?

      Thanks.

PS i have search a lot on this but found nothing.

Do you want the .doc files linked? Or are they just linked in the files/templates you’re using and you want to unlink them? If it is the latter, you should be able to Unlink the files in the Links panel menu. (I’m talking about the regular version of InDesign, not Server.)

Or is this something you need to be able to disable from within ID Server?

      Hi David,

No, i don’t want the files linked, actually, they should not be even in there, i want to make sure that ther is no links to those files because it generates errors on the indesign server when we need to create the pdf of the files.

If I open the indd files in InDesing (not server) I don’t even see the text files in my links panel.
One thing I forgot to mentione ifs that we also use InCopy. (would the linked .doc files be in there?)

Is the content placed by InDesign Desktop, or InDesign Server?

One thing you can try is myDocLink.unlink()

all the layout is done with Indesign desktop and InCopy
The errors are happening on the server when we generate the PDF files and images

      Hi Alexandre,

Hard to be sure, but it sounds like there might be more to this issue than can easily be handled via this forum or via e-mail. Before I could help you I’d nearly certainly need a much closer look at the issue: I’d need to see and poke into sample documents, might need to get some remote access to a desktop computer where I can ‘see’ the various workflow components, inspect paths, ping other computers,…

We can certainly do that, but unless the issue turned out to be trivial, there would be a fee: our InDesign and InDesign Server expertise is our source of income.

So, if you get really stuck, and the issue is very important to you, feel free to ask our help!
