I'm doing a little sleuthing for my company, trying to figure out if inDesign is the right solution.

I work for a training company, and currently, we produce all of our materials in MS Office. We distribute materials via PDF, and one of the reasons inDesign is so attractive would be the interactive elements (which I'm trying desperately to self-teach, through manuals but mostly this site!)

Every time I get something to work in PDF, I get all happy…until I try it on my iPad. I understand that iPads don't support flash, but from what I'm reading it sounds like it should support some of the button stuff (Click the button, have something pop up) but I can't get it to work. Am I mistaken, or just not creating these buttons correctly? (And I can't rely on training participants having a specific PDF-reader app on their iPads. The solution has to be turnkey)

We know that a good number of participants in our training programs view the materials on iPads, but other tablets are gaining market share, and there are always plain old computers to think about. I need to create one solution that'll work in all of these. I'm wondering if I should give up on the interactive elements, and just harness the design portion of inDesign and create more compelling documents that way.

ANY and ALL advice would be much-appreciated!

Unfortunately, the only interactive element that works on most (and even then, not all) ipad pdf readers is hyperlinks.
